Installation ============ From Source ----------- By default the application will run from the current folder but it is possible to install it using the supplied Makefile (type "make" to show usage examples). Install to wherever your PREFIX is currently set to: make install To uninstall: make uninstall DESTDIR is supported for packagers to install to an intermediate folder; for example: make DESTDIR=pfeme-0.1.1 install Requirements ============ Gtkdialog >= 0.8.3 - http://code.google.com/p/gtkdialog/ Operation ========= Games Tab --------- The Games list shows any game files found within the ROMs folders. The Name column shows the file name. The Type column shows the file extension. The xPlayed column shows a record of the number of times that the game has been played and is updated either when you restart the application or when the list is refreshed (Gtkdialog doesn't refresh single rows). Double-clicking an item within the list or activating a selected item with Enter or Space will play the game. The Refresh button will rebuild the list and update the xPlayed column which is useful for when the contents of folders have changed and the list becomes out-of-date (the list is not auto-refreshed at start-up). The Play button will play the selected game. The number of items within the list is displayed in the status bar. Profiles Tab ------------ The buttons along the top are used to change the visible profile. The visible profile is highlighted with a bolder button image. The selected profile has an additional tick mark image. The Executable and Arguments entry boxes are self explanatory. The Readme entry box contains the full path to the file that is shown within the Readme tab and can be any text file you wish. The ROMs paths point to the folders where the game files are located and modifying Pattern allows you to be more selective with the results, for example *.gba or *.n64 The Image paths point to the folders where the selected game images are located with each one being shown in the corresponding image tab and modifying Pattern allows you to be more selective with the results, for example .jpg or 01.png (this is appended to the selected game's name). The Apply button will save the changes to the visible profile and if the visible profile is also the selected profile then the game list, readme and game images will be refreshed. The Select button will make the visible profile the selected profile which will cause the game list, readme and game images to be refreshed. Readme Tab ---------- This contains the file from the selected profile's Readme entry box. Clicking the Options expander shows various properties which can be modified and applied with the Apply button (a restart is required). Output Tab ---------- The executable output for the most recently played game is shown here. Image 1-3 Tabs -------------- Image 1 shows the selected game's image from the selected profile's topmost Images path, Image 2 from the middle path and Image 3 from the bottom path. Command Line Args. ------------------ This is a place to store frequently changing command-line arguments. You might for example want to try an option without having to modify a profile's Arguments entry box causing an unnecessary refresh. Pressing Enter within this entry box will activate the Play button. The data is saved to the selected profile when a game is played, when another profile is selected and when the application is exited. A useful trick here is to enter "--help" and press Enter likely causing the executable to print its argument list to the Output tab. Quit ---- The window dimensions are recorded to be restored next session. Contacting Us ============= Thunor <thunorsif@hotmail.com> http://code.google.com/p/gtkdialog/ 2013-01-06
