It describes the steps required to produce one-dimensional spectra from two-dimensional images. Operating procedures are described in detail so that this manual can be used as a guide by users without MIDAS experience. <P> A tutorial example is available in the system, the user is recommended to run it (<TT>SET/CONTEXT echelle</TT>, then <TT>TUTORIAL/ECHELLE</TT>) while reading the relevant parts of this document.
